At Stridemend, our journey began with a clear mission: to provide super easy-to-fit, supportive footwear for those who need it most. We noticed a major gap in the market—individuals living with conditions like diabetes, post-stroke mobility challenges, foot swelling, or those using AFOs and custom orthotics struggled to find shoes that truly fit their needs.
The few options available were often shipped from overseas, taking weeks to arrive, leaving patients in discomfort and delaying their recovery or mobility. We knew there had to be a better way.
That’s why we created Stridemend—to deliver comfortable, functional, and locally available orthotic footwear designed to accommodate unique medical requirements without compromise. Our shoes are engineered to provide the right fit, the right support, and most importantly, the right timing.

Aashish Yamba
Founder/ Clinical Orthotist
With over thirteen plus years of experience in the orthotic industry, Aashish brings extensive clinical insight into footwear design. Having worked closely with patients requiring orthotics, diabetic care, and paediatric support, he identified a major gap in the availability of suitable footwear in New Zealand — which became the foundation for STRIDEMEND.
Joe Jiang
Co-founder/ Local Businessman
A Dunedin-based businessman with a strong background in accounting and financial management, Joe plays a key role in ensuring STRIDEMEND’s operational and financial strength. He works closely with our manufacturing partners in China, helping maintain quality, consistency, and scalability.
